New Zealand’s film crews are highly regarded internationally for their commitment to producing excellent work. They are also well known for their hard work ethic, sense of humour, flexibility and practical problem-solving skills.
The lack of demarcation between specific roles can be an added bonus to a production. The diverse variety of work produced in New Zealand has ensured that both local directors and crew are constantly adapting to new equipment and techniques and new production challenges.

As well as the areas covered throughout this website, the following points are particularly relevant to television commercial production:
- Language translators and multi-lingual production co-ordinators are available if required.
- New Zealand technicians in general are self-employed contractors and are responsible for their own taxes and insurance. This is included within their daily rate.
- Standard television commercial working days are 10 hours, including a 3/4 hour lunch break. After 10 hours, over-time at 1.5 applies for the first 2 hours, with double-time thereafter.
