‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ director praises Weta’s digital wizardry
10th June 2011
The latest instalment in the ‘Planet of the Apes’ franchise opens in the U.S. on August 5, and will feature lifelike chimps, gorillas and orangutans created by Wellington based digital effects company Weta. In a recent article in USA Today, director Rupert Wyatt explains why Weta Digital was selected for the task of creating the film’s digital stars.
“We will succeed or fail based on how much people believe in our apes,” he says. “But WETA is the best in the world and once they sent us one shot, we knew we’d made the right decision.” The full article appears in USA Today, Friday, June 3.
