The American Film Institute has called the New Zealand film industry "one of the wonders of the world... an unparalleled success story". Certainly the number of New Zealand filmmakers who have gained the world's attention is well beyond what the country's small population and distance from major metropolitan cultural centres might be expected to have delivered.  And international producers have consistently been impressed by the talent and commitment of New Zealand crews and cast.

On these pages we showcase the films and television dramas shot in New Zealand since 1990, and the productions that utilised New Zealand's world-class post production, digital and visual effects providers.
