This role will provide strategic and financial advice to the Leadership Team and the CEO. You will oversee and be responsible for the annual budgeting process, financial management and performance reporting, long and short-term financial planning, cash flow, annual audit and annual report.
We are looking for an innovative and driven professional with proven experience in a similar role. You will have a strong commercial acumen with a ‘hands on’ track record in defining, developing, and delivering finance strategies, projects and systems. Vital to this role is the ability to think and act strategically, taking a commercial perspective and bringing the numbers alive to allow the leadership team to make informed decisions. You will have strong leadership capability and be able to build strategic relationships by effectively communicating information to a broad range of stakeholders.
You will be supporting and assisting the NZFC to make the best decisions in screen productions, aligned to its long-term goal of a successful NZ screen industry and specifically its medium-term goal to have more amazing, original, different, satisfying projects by assessing projects for creative and market potential. This includes supporting and advising screen practitioners through the lifecycle of screen, development, and production.
This is a permanent role based in Wellington.
We are looking for someone who is/has:
- CA Qualified with extensive post CA work experience
- Minimum of 3+ years in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of taxation and accounting rules & regulations
- In-depth knowledge of financial accounting systems
- In-depth experience of management issues (people, resources, systems and processes)
- Demonstrated understanding of the Public Finance Act, with the ability to make strategic high level decisions
- Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including time management and prioritising work in a complex work environment
- Proven experience working in a government agency and a sound understanding of the machinery of government
- Proven experience and success within a commercial environment
- Proven ability and experience to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including understanding different stakeholder’s motivations and the ability to influence, negotiate and persuade
- Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and a strong sense of ethics in all decisions and actions
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and to recognise and respect sensitive material or information
- A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi)
- A passion for, and broad knowledge of, screen and practitioners
